What this is about

Friens exists so that people meet in real life: with friends, in groups, in their neighbourhood. That only works if everyone feels safe and welcome. These rules apply to everything in Friens, including profiles, meetups, neighbourhood posts, hellos, the group feed and the kitty, and to meetups arranged through Friens. They are part of the Terms of Use (https://friens.app/en/terms).

Be real

  • One account per person. Do not pretend to be someone else.
  • You must be at least 16.
  • Only verify yourself, with your own face and device.
  • Only plan meetups and neighbourhood events that actually exist.

Be respectful

  • No insults, threats, hate or discrimination, whether based on origin, skin colour, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability or age.
  • No harassment. A no, or no answer, is an answer. Do not keep sending hellos to someone who does not wave back.
  • No unwanted sexual content or advances. Nothing sexual towards minors, ever.
  • Respect it when someone leaves a meetup, blocks you or is no longer visible.

Protect other people's privacy

  • Do not share other people's addresses, locations, photos, numbers or conversations without their consent.
  • Do not try to find out where someone lives, and do not use Nearby or Neighbours to track anyone down.
  • Do not secretly photograph or film anyone at meetups.

No spam, no business

  • No advertising, sales offers, network marketing or chain letters.
  • No bots, mass hellos or automated accounts.
  • No illegal offers, in particular no drugs or weapons.

Meet safely

  • Meet people you do not know in public, busy places first.
  • Tell friends where you are and who you are with. Use live location and trip home in your group.
  • "Verified" only means a real person completed the check. It says nothing about intentions or age. Stay alert.
  • Only share your address once you really trust someone.
  • Look after yourself and others when drinking. Do not leave drinks unattended.
  • If something feels wrong, leave. You do not owe anyone a meetup.
  • In an emergency call 112 or 110. The emergency alarm in Friens only notifies your group, not the emergency services.

Take the emergency features seriously

  • Only trigger the emergency alarm when you really need help, and end it as soon as you are okay.
  • No jokes with trip home or the alarm. False alarms worry others and can lead to a suspension.

Courage mode, with common sense

  • Challenges are suggestions, not obligations. Do nothing that puts you or others at risk, breaks the law or involves someone against their will.

Report and block

  • If you see something that breaks these rules, tap "Report". The person is then also blocked for you and is not told who reported them.
  • You can also just block. You no longer see people you have blocked, and they no longer see you.
  • Without an account or for questions: leonardo@friens.app.
  • Report honestly. Attacking others with false reports breaks the rules too.

What happens after a violation

  • A human reviews reports. Depending on severity we give a notice, remove content, restrict features, remove the verification or suspend the account, permanently in serious cases.
  • You get a statement of reasons and can appeal by email within six months.
  • If there is a danger to life or limb, we inform the police.
